A free event is being held to help businesses understand new
legislation which will enable them to trade internationally more
securely.
The event has been organised by the UK Trade and Investment
Team, based at the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce,
and will focus on new products from the Export Credits Guarantee
Department (ECGD).
The ECGD is the government department responsible for providing
financial and insurance assistance to exporters of UK capital goods
and services and its latest offerings will be explained during the
event on Wednesday, May 25at the Butts Park Arena, in Coventry,
between 10am and 1pm.
Mick Page, from the UK Trade and Investment Team, said: "The
world of export credit insurance is changing and this event will
help to explain more about the ECDG new products that were
announced in the recent Trade and Industry White Paper.
"It will also help business owners understand when they will be
available as well as explaining how they can help SME's to
export."
The four new ECGD products include a widening of the eligibility
of the existing short term credit insurance policy - the Export
Insurance Policy (EXIP), a bond support scheme, an export working
capital scheme and a foreign exchange credit support product.
There will also be presentations from Tom Brothwell of HSBC
highlighting their current international activities and the
Coventry and Warwickshire International Trade Team will also
provide an update on their current programmes and activities.
The event will be concluded with a question and answer session,
buffet and networking opportunity.
