A Midlands diner with some upmarket neighbours is set to come
under the hammer.
The one-time Little Chef, on the A45 at Meriden, has a guide
price of £125,000.
It lies adjacent to Packington Hall and opposite Stonebridge
Golf Club.
The prominent freehold complex runs to 2,750 sq ft with parking
for approximately 32 cars.
According to the auction catalogue it is "considered suitable
for the continuation of a roadside restaurant or alternatively a
wide variety of uses subject to obtaining the appropriate planning
permission".
The auction goes ahead on Thursday, May 19, in the Holte Suite
at the Villa Park Conference Centre, part of the Aston Villa
football club complex on Trinity Road, Aston.
There is a huge total of 133 lots comprising residential and
commercial property, land and development sites and a considerable
number of ground rents. Sellers include Birmingham, Sandwell and
Wolverhampton councils, housing associations and LPA receivers.
Other restaurants on the market are Tony Montanas, Bridge
Street, Wednesbury, guide price £140,000-£150,000 and a
site at Chester Road, Stonnall, £150,000, which is reckoned
to have plenty of potential for someone with vision.
"There is lots of value in many of these properties," said
Bigwood director Ian Tudor.
There are the usual struggling pubs.
The Talbot, 13 Bradleys Lane, Tipton, is being sold by
administrators and has a guide price of
£50,000-£60,000. The Moon Under the Water, Huntington
Terrace Road, Cannock, is available at
£85,000-£90,000.
Former care homes being sold are 37-bedroom Lyttleton House, 1
Ormond Road, Rubery, guide price £350,000 - due to a
restricted covenant the site can only be used for the elderly - and
St Helens, 42 Claughton Road, Dudley, eight bedrooms, in excess of
£100,000.
A magnificent four storey Grade II listed office building, St
John's Cloisters, St John's Square, Wolverhampton, part of a former
convent, is available at £225,000-£250,000.
The last pull of the bandits has been sounded at a former
amusement arcade at 14 Market Place, Willenhall. It could be a good
refurbishment and conversion opportunity.
A former doctor's surgery at 63 Bloxwich Road South, Willenhall,
sadly now vandalised and fire damaged, is on offer at
£175,000.
And you don't have to be flush to purchase Lot 10.
The former public toilets at Muntz Street, Sparkbrook,
Birmingham, have what Scots might term a "wee guide price" of just
£15,000.
