Derby engineering specialists SCITEK Consultants Ltd have successfully tendered and gained a new major contract from China - creating four new jobs - after obtaining financial backing from NatWest.

SCITEK Consultants Ltd is an engineering consultancy founded in October 1997 by Dr. Marios Christodoulou to offer Research and Development services. The company prides itself in providing complete engineering solutions to customer problems and participates in prestigious EU funded Aerospace research projects. In addition to consultancy work SCITEK offer a number of products which have been developed to meet the requirements of their clients. The company - which is based on the Jubilee Parkway in Derby - employs 18 people and boasts a growing client book from the aerospace, defence and power generation industries.

As part of the growth of their client book, SCITEK have won a contract with the Institute of Nuclear Physics and Chemistry in China, creating four new jobs.

To ensure the company are able - and have the required guarantees and bonds - to trade with China, they approached NatWest Commercial Banking in Derby who tailored a financial and international package to meet their needs.

Dr. Marios Christodoulou, Senior Consultant and founder of SCITEK Consultants Ltd, said: 'Over the last 13 years the Company has developed and grown because of our broad skills base, flexible company structure and customer service excellence. This has enabled us to accommodate short and long duration projects that we can carry out at client sites or at our own laboratory. These skills, our expertise and our focus on customer service has ensured our client base has returned for new work and has grown in the specialist fields of mechanical, aero, control systems, instrumentation and software engineering. This is certainly true of our new contract with INPC. Winning this contract is great news not only for SCITEK Consultants Ltd but also the economy, as it will create new jobs and help our growth plans.'

The financial and trade package for the company was put in place by Mark Tunley Director of Business Development at NatWest Commercial Banking in Derby together with Roy Griffiths from the bank's Global Transaction Services.

Mark Tunley said: 'We are totally committed to playing a key role in helping companies such as SCITEK Consultants Ltd trade with overseas countries. With this in mind, when we were approached by Dr. Christodoulou for our support we were delighted to help.'
