Orbit Homes, the development and sales arm of the Orbit Group,
have this week announced their year end results giving an insight
into an impressive twelve months for the Housing Provider.
Orbit Homes was launched in March 2010 to build and sell homes
for outright sale, shared ownership, intermediate tenures and
social rent. Despite difficult market conditions, the company has
assisted 1,578 single people, couples and families during its first
year in existence.
The Sales and Marketing Team, responsible for the promotion and
sale of Orbit Homes' programme of low cost home ownership products,
have helped 180 households into home ownership through Shared
Ownership and Intermediate Tenure schemes.
In addition to the Sales and Marketing Team, Orbit Homes also
encompasses Orbit HomeBuy Agents and Orbit's Mortgage Rescue
Team.
Orbit HomeBuy Agents are the largest Government appointed
HomeBuy Agent in the country covering Norfolk, Suffolk,
Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Coventry, Warwickshire,
Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire, Shropshire,
Birmingham, Solihull and the Black Country. Orbit HomeBuy Agents
act as a 'one stop shop' for information and advice about all low
cost homeownership initiatives and also administer the popular
government funded HomeBuy Direct and the soon to be launched,
recently announced FirstBuy scheme in these areas. In addition to
providing a headline marketing and assessment service to other
housing providers in their areas of operation, The HomeBuy Agency
have processed thousands of applications on their behalf whilst
completing 1,074 HomeBuy Direct cases in the last year alone.
Orbit Homes' delivery of the government's Mortgage Rescue scheme
has enabled a number of homeowners struggling with the threat of
repossession to remain in their own homes. The Mortgage Rescue Team
is the lead for cases in the West Midlands, Norfolk and Suffolk and
since April 2010 has helped 324 families.
'Despite a difficult market, our year end results go to show
that home ownership is still the preferred option for plenty of
people' says Chris Craig, Sales Director at Orbit Homes.
'In 2011 we plan to build on the success of the previous year;
our first major development under the Orbit Homes banner, 320 homes
across all tenures at Aspire, Norse Road in Bedford, is due to
launch this May with surplus from market sales being reused to
provide more affordable homes'
