Nikal has appointed Birmingham based retail property
consultants, BWD to market four retail units at its Masshouse and
Hive developments in Eastside.
BWD is promoting the units which range from 2,136 sq ft to
5,950 sq ft for lease or sale with Nikal keen to support
Eastside's growing community through the provision of much needed
local convenience and leisure facilities.
Simon James, sales director for Nikal commented: "With Hive
having reached practical completion in April we have bought over
300 new homes to Eastside creating a buoyant community which we
hope to enhance through the delivery of a range of retail, service
and potentially leisure opportunities to the locale.
"We want to create an exciting retail mix and are therefore very
open to considering retailers and operators from all sectors
including both privately owned and independent businesses. With a
strong residential, education and business community in Eastside
there is a very cosmopolitan consumer market here and one which we
believe the right occupants could capitalise on extremely
quickly."
Featuring full height glazing the retail units offer a choice of
frontages facing Moor Street Queensway, the A47, Albert Street and
the newly created pedestrian promenade between Masshouse and Hive.
Three units are available on the ground floor of Masshouse with the
fourth positioned within the ground floor of Hive.
Richard Bidwell, director of BWD added: "Hive and Masshouse
offer two very strong retail propositions in a prime position
anchoring Moor Street Station and Millennium Point and surrounded
by educational facilities including Matthew Boulton College, Aston
University and Birmingham City University. The future benefits
offered by the developments' close proximity to the proposed High
Speed 2 rail terminus at Curzon Street, new City Park and
174-bedroom Hotel La Tour due to open in February 2012 should also
not be overlooked. The range of units available here presents
occupiers with a choice of flexible opportunities and, with
Eastside continuing to grow at a dramatic range, early investors
here could reap both short and long term rewards."
The £600m mixed-use Masshouse scheme in Birmingham's
Eastside encompasses residential developments Masshouse and Hive.
Masshouse was completed in 2007 and includes 173 apartments. Hive
was launched to the market in January this year and offers a total
167 studio suite, one and two bedroom apartments, over 30 per cent
of which have been sold. Prices for residential properties
currently start from £90,000 for a studio suite.
