the bottom line
As the economy continues to present challenges for business
operation and sustianability, organisations are being urged to
consider the cost saving benefits of an outsourced IT provision,
which could deliver a return of up to 30 percent saving on the
operational bottom line.
Richard Carty, Commercial Director of Midlands-based managed IT
services business Netshield Limited, comments: "If a business
selects the right outsourcing company for them, in terms of
expertise and resource, they can expect to see between 25 percent
and 30 percent cost saving on the bottom line if the outsourcing,
full or part, is a success.
"By opting for an outsourcing route, IT becomes an operational
rather than capital expense. These cost savings will also double-up
with energy efficiency and environmental benefits to the business;
without a dedicated IT room with servers humming 24-hours a day,
there is a reduction in the power used to run it, and air
conditioning to keep it at the optimum temperatures.
"A full or part outsourcing model, working with the right
specialist outsource provider, can improve IT service quality too.
By working with a dedicated team, their specialist skills and
knowledge is channelled into maximising the efficicency of the IT
infrastructure and systems.
"If the business signs up to a Service Level Agreement, there is
an obligation placed on the outsourcing provider to deliver and add
value, as well as an assurance that the right type and level of
service is specified, agreed and then delivered, so the return on
investment is also impressive."
He adds: "A specialist outsourcing business makes it their
business ot have the latest software and hardware available to
clients, and the right tools to monitor system performance,
applying a proactive IT strategy and operational approach. If
set-up correctly, the benefits to a business of outsourcing could
present a real opportunity to cut running costs."
