A business advisory firm has promoted two of its directors to partners to strengthen its team and drive forward continued growth in 2011.

Cooper Parry, with offices in Derby, Leicester and Nottingham has continued its investment in the business with the promotions of Simon Baines to tax partner and John Bryant as corporate finance partner. The duo, who have a combined professional experience of nearly fifty years, are part of Cooper Parry's ongoing ambitious recruitment and growth plans.

Ade Cheatham, chief operating officer at Cooper Parry, described the two promotions as a very significant milestone in the development of the practice.

He said: "We are really excited about the promotions of Simon and John and this is part of our ongoing business strategy and commitment to our team and clients.

"We are investing in our talented people by putting them at the heart of our business growth plans going forward and we are confident they will help bolster the tax and corporate finance offering and the quality of service we are delivering to our clients."

Simon Baines joined Cooper Parry as a tax senior in September 2000 before progressing through the firm as a manager and senior manager before being made director in January 2010.

He started his career at HMRC where he stayed for 12 years before joining R Garner & Co. He is a specialist in corporation tax mitigation, remuneration planning and HMRC enquiries.

The 43-year-old said: "I hope to continue to build strong relations with clients and provide practical tax solutions to work alongside their personal and business ambitions."

John Bryant has a decade of experience as a corporate banker having worked for Royal Bank of Scotland in their corporate and structured finance team with another 14 years experience in corporate finance. He joined Cooper Parry in 2005 as an assistant director in the corporate finance team before being promoted to director.

His responsibilities will now include developing the corporate finance offering of the firm alongside fellow partner David Browne.

He said: "I'm delighted to have been made partner and looking forward to growing the corporate finance offering further.

"I believe that the level of client service here is second to none because of the personal approach and clients' access to a senior and experienced team."
