Gainsborough-based law firm Burton & Dyson is encouraging
more people to make a Will by offering them the chance to do so for
free at a forthcoming event.
As statistics show that more than half of all Britons do not
have a Will, the firm is launching its own Wills Online service,
which aims to make the process as straightforward and accessible as
possible.
A launch event is being held at Costa Coffee, in Marshall's
Yard, Gainsborough, on Tuesday, May 10th, when members of Burton
& Dyson's team will be on hand to help members of the public
make a Will and offer advice.
Those who attend the event, which runs from 11am to 3.30pm, will
be able to make a routine Will free of charge - although they will
be able, if they so wish, to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer
Support.
Senior partner Philip Westcott said: "Many people put off making
a Will, either because they are too busy or simply because they
don't like thinking about what will happen when they die.
"However, if you die without making a Will then how will your
final wishes be carried out? A court may have to decide how your
estate is divided up and this could mean that people you would have
wished to benefit lose out at the expense of others who may not
have been so close.
"Making a Will not only saves your family additional stress at
what will already be a very difficult time, but will give you peace
of mind from knowing that they will be taken care of when you are
no longer here.
"We want to make the Will-writing process as easy as possible
for everyone, which is why we are launching this new service. If
you are in Gainsborough on May 10th then please drop in and see us
- you can make your Will free of charge while also, if you wish,
doing a little for a very worthy cause."
