Browns Bar and Brasserie and Handmade Burger Co. to open at Spiceal Street

Bullring has announced two of the new restaurants that will be opening at the Spiceal Street development. The effortlessly stylish, Browns Bar and Brasserie, and local gourmet burger-experts, handmade burger Co., will be opening at the centre's new dining quarter during winter 2011.

Established in 1973, Browns is the essence of quality and excellence. Utterly sophisticated, the contemporary bar and brassiere offers a range of signature cocktails and a stylish blend of classic and modern dishes. The new restaurant will be the first of the brand's to open in the West Midlands and is a very exciting addition to Bullring's catering offer.

Locally-run Handmade Burger will also be joining the UK's most visited shopping centre when the new-look Spiceal Street is unveiled later in the year. Famed for its use of only the finest and freshest ingredients available, the family-owned restaurant operation boasts an exclusive Jimmy's Farm rare-breed beef range and a strong fresh food philosophy.

Tim Walley, General Manager at Bullring, commented: "We're thrilled to welcome both Browns and Handmade Burger to Spiceal Street for what promises to be a very exciting and unique catering area. When we began this development in autumn 2010 we asked our visitors what restaurants they'd like to see and were overwhelmed with the response. The need for independent restaurants was recognised and we also received requests for a bar and grill that perhaps wasn't already in the city, and we're confident that Browns and Handmade Burger have fulfilled these requests."

A spokesperson for Browns added: "We are very excited to be part of the Spiceal Street development at Bullring. We think that Browns will be a favourite for people who care about value and quality in stylish surroundings."

Chris Sargeant, owner of handmade burger Co. added: "We're really proud of our Birmingham heritage and are delighted to be part of the Spiceal Street development.

Fresh food is at the heart of everything we do, so to be opening a restaurant on the street that was once famous for the freshest and finest local ingredients is really exciting for us."

With restaurants remaining open later than the rest of the mall and a full calendar of cultural events planned following the opening, Spiceal Street is set to become the ultimate evening destination.

The third restaurant, which will open at Spiceal Street will be announced during the summer.
