Browne Jacobson has announced the promotion of five lawyers to
its partnership bringing the total number of partners at the firm
to 76.
The new partners are: Dai Durbridge (Social Care and Education),
Fiona Butler (Environment/Advocacy), Jonathan Newbold (Financial
and Professional Risk), Laura Hughes (Environment/Advocacy) and
Shaun McCabe (Banking).
Dai Durbridge leads the firm's safeguarding practice,
specialising in the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
within education, social care, health and sport.
Barrister Fiona Butler heads the firm's in-house advocacy unit,
where she focuses on defending personal injury cases arising out of
road traffic accidents, accidents at work and within the public
sector and clinical negligence. She has a particular
specialism in high profile inquests and regulatory prosecution for
the General Teaching Council. Barristers are now able to
become partners in a firm of solicitors following amendment to the
provision 205 Code of Conduct of the Bar Council for England &
Wales.
Laura Hughes is an expert on judicial review and administrative
law issues and has recently been advising upon a number of school
reorganisation projects, academy conversions, judicial reviews of
funding decisions and a major public inquiry.
Jonathan Newbold specialises in resolving professional liability
claims and insurance coverage disputes. He regularly deals with
claims against IFAs, brokers, directors and officers, accountants
and solicitors. His insurance experience includes policy drafting
and the interpretation of policy wording. In addition,
Jonathan also undertakes financial services work and regularly
advises clients in relation to FSA regulation and practice.
Shaun McCabe joined Browne Jacobson's Banking Team in 2002 and
acts for corporate borrowers, banks, venture capitalists and other
funders on a variety of transactions including acquisitions,
buy-outs, restructures, re-financings and general banking
matters.
