Coventry University's improvements in performance and reputation
in recent years have been reflected in the 2012 Guardian League
Table, which was released yesterday (17 May).
Coventry has jumped 24 places to 63rd out of 119 universities
and is now in the top 10 of the post-1992 universities in England.
Coventry does particularly well on the Guardian's added value
measure, where the University is in the top ten across the UK. This
compares students' individual degree results with their entry
qualifications to measure the effectiveness of teaching in helping
students to exceed their expectations. In addition the University
has also significantly improved its student/staff ratio to 15.7,
ahead of most of its competitors.
Commenting on the results, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor
Madeleine Atkins, said:
'The University is pleased to see that the improvements we have
made over the past few years are now beginning to show in the
League tables. In particular they demonstrate our focus on
providing a quality academic experience for our students so that
they achieve good grades and are successful in finding
employment'
