Nottingham law firm Berryman has hired Wayne Smith as Partner in
its employment team.
A specialist in all aspects of employment law, Smith joins the
firm having previously run his own niche employment practice,
Integra Legal.
He has also previously held senior roles at some of the UK's
leading law firms including Leicester's Howes Percival, the Leeds
office of Hammonds LLP, DLA London, and Eversheds in Nottingham,
where he worked with Berryman's head of employment Hilary Campion
from 1999 to 2001.
Commenting on joining the firm, Wayne Smith said: "Berryman has
long had a reputation for being a reputable and excellent law firm
in and around Nottingham and joining as a Partner represents a
fantastic professional opportunity to work with a highly talented,
experienced and growing team.
"It is without doubt a very exciting time for the firm,
following Berryman's merger with Shakespeare Putsman last year. The
new multi-site firm has a very ambitious strategy for sustained
growth and expansion in all respects, and I am very much looking
forward to being a part of these plans."
The Nottingham employment team works with clients based locally,
regionally and also nationally. "The employment team in Nottingham
itself is focussed on expansion and growth, both in terms of
resource and personnel, but also to expand our portfolio of
blue-chip and SME clients," says Wayne.
Berryman's employment team is led by Marie Evans in Nottingham,
one of the East Midlands' leading dispute resolution and litigation
lawyers and Partner and Head of its 18-strong Commercial Dispute
Resolution Team. Marie is a specialist in commercial litigation,
corporate recovery, insolvency and employment. She adds:
"Wayne adds significantly to the already extensive depth and
level of expertise of our employment team and will work closely
with Berryman Director Hilary Campion, one of the most highly
regarded and experienced employment lawyers in the East
Midlands. Together they will work to further build this specialist
team, building on its strength and excellent reputation as a major
player in the East Midlands' legal market."
Berryman merged with Midlands law firm Shakespeare Putsman in
2010, creating one of the Midlands' largest law firms.
