Education resources company Wildgoose has received a Highly
Commended from the Geographical Association for its 'Amazing China'
photopack. The GA Publisher's Award aims to recognise material
which is likely to make a significant contribution to geography in
primary schools, secondary schools or colleges, and to encourage
the creative development of new materials. The commendation was
presented to Wildgoose at GA's Annual Awards Presentation on the
14th April at the University of Surrey by Mike Parker, author,
travel writer and broadcaster.
A representative from the Geographical Association commented,
"This teaching resource provides a noteworthy contribution to the
understanding of a nation that is destined to have a significant
influence over the direction and development of the world. 'Amazing
China' is a valuable aid for teachers wishing to give pupils a
greater understanding about the geography of China."
The 'Amazing China' photopack from Wildgoose contains
twenty-four stunning A4 photographs illustrating the geography and
culture of China. Covering a wide variety of topics including
families, buildings, transport, tourism and environmental issues it
is an ideal contrasting study locality. The Wildgoose pack also
contains comprehensive teacher's notes and pupil activities plus a
CD of additional photographs for whiteboard use.
Rachel Tidmarsh, Managing Director of Wildgoose commented, "We
are highly honoured by this commendation, the second in just a few
years for our unique range of photographic teaching aids."
Wildgoose received the highly prestigious Gold Award for its
'Coast to Coast' Photopack and CD in 2008.
Debbie Mousley, Product Development Coordinator at Wildgoose
added, "This photopack has been created to provide teachers with an
insight into the geography, history and culture of a selection of
places in China through photographs and activities. It provides an
ideal distant locality study within the Geography curriculum and
can also be used as a thematic topic and as a useful starting point
for a cross-curricular study of China. Although aimed at upper Key
Stage 2 several activities could also be used at Key Stage
3."
The 'Amazing China' photopack is just one resource in a range of
photographic teaching aids developed and published by Wildgoose.
Other topics covered include Floods, Mountains and Volcanoes,
Weather and Citizenship. For further information on the complete
