For the third time since the firm was first invited to provide
legal advice to Royal Mail Group (RMG) in 1997, Weightmans LLP has
been re-appointed to its panel of preferred suppliers.
Following an extensive review and tender process, Weightmans has
been chosen to provide advice on a comprehensive range of high
volume Employment and Property related issues across England and
Wales.
"Everyone is delighted with this result," said employment
partner Stuart Jones who already advises Royal Mail on a range of
issues. "Our focus during this tender process has been on how to
help RMG reduce legal spend, deliver cost certainty and still
manage exposure to risks. Of course only by listening carefully to
the RMG team were we able to gain a thorough understanding of the
Group's future legal requirements."
John Schorah who is head of Weightmans' Commercial business
line, encompassing Property and Employment, said:
"Although law firms are under pressure to reduce rates and
control costs I firmly believe that law firms can improve
efficiency without compromising on quality. Our success with the
RMG tender is a testament to that.
"Following from the forthcoming merger with Mace and Jones the
news that we will be sole supplier to RMG in England and Wales for
a specific type of employment work reinforces our position as one
of the country's leading employment practices. Furthermore the
appointment for property work is a fantastic testament to the
reputation and offering of the combined real estate practices of
Weightmans and Mace and Jones."
Having provided the organisation with legal advice since 1997,
Weightmans was reappointed to Royal Mail's slimmed down legal panel
for employment work in April 2007. This latest re appointment sees
Weightmans become sole provider of employment tribunal and HR
advisory work for the whole of England and Wales.
