The Vaisaksi Mela is a multicultural event which is held
annually in Coventry; the event is free to attend and around 5,000

There will be an array of activities, including sport for young
people, a funfair and henna tattooing. Many other attractions will

NTC are sponsoring this year's event and have donated
£600, together with Coventry City Council and Coventry City
Football Club who are providing free footballs for the football
competition!
The sponsors will be featuring along with many other businesses
who are also planned to attend. The event promises to be a real
community affair, bringing people from all walks of life
together!
Vaisaksi, an ancient harvest festival celebrated in most parts
of India, has particular significance to the Sikh community, of
whom 35,000 live in Coventry and Warwickshire.
The Vice Chairman of the Sikh Union, Bhovinder Nagra, who also
sits on Nuneaton Training Centre's Board of Directors comments,
"Vaisaksi Mela is of significant importance as it celebrates the
day in 1699 when the Sikhs gained their identity.
"This is an excellent opportunity for staff members of Nuneaton
Training Centre to promote their services in an unconventional
manner to all age groups and have a fun day at the same time as
engaging with the local Asian community."
