The UK's premier Terrier racing team will be taking to the floor
of the countryside arena at this year's Shropshire County Show -
creating chaos, laughter and mayhem.
The Tricky Tykes will be among the entertainment attracting the
crowds at the Berwick Road Showground in Shrewsbury on May 14 and
15 this year.
The Terrier team were the first to appear at Crufts and have
been returning there by public demand. They use many different
breeds - around 40 in every performance.
The dogs have appeared on TV and Radio and have been at most of
the Royal Showgrounds and Palaces, including the Royal Welsh, the
Royal Highland Centre, Blenheim Palace, Sandringham, Hatfield House
and Chatsworth House.
They have also appeared at other prestigious events including
Discover Dogs, Earls Court, East of England Showground, Three
Counties and Buckingham Show to name but a few.
And in 2011 they will appear in the countryside arena at the
county show, much to the excitement of the organisers.
Mary Hopkins, the show general manager, said: "The 'Tykes' are a
brat pack of little dogs, mostly terriers, who enthusiastically
give their all in the pursuit of a mechanically propelled lure, as
they demonstrate to crowds the length and breadth of the British
Isles, the age old Country Sport of Terrier Racing.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome them to this year's show as
the public cannot seem to get enough of their antics - they have
made hundreds of appearances across the country and shows have
invited them back time and time again due to public demand."
