Travel specialists David Moore and Rachel Emerson are more used
to organising adventures for others but are about to embark upon a
world-famous one of their own.
The duo, who both work for Travel Management Group (TMG) in
Leamington Spa, will be jogging into unknown territory when they
take on the daunting challenge of the London Marathon.
As Team TMG, they are each hoping to raise at least £2,000
for the NSPCC by pounding the gruelling 26 miles and 385 yards on
April 17 when the event celebrates its 30th year, a birthday shared
by Rachel.
Rachel, account manager at TMG Events, said: "For years I have
said that I wanted to do the London Marathon before I was 30 and I
will be 30 in August so this was my last chance.
"I would always finish last in cross-country at school so I'm by
no means a natural runner. Training is going quite well
though and my aim is to finish, get the medal and hopefully raise
lots of money for the NSPCC."
David, director of TMG Corporate, said: "I am entering my 47th
year and wanted to set myself a challenge and taking part in the
London Marathon seemed the one to do as I am not known for being
athletically fit.
"It's also a great opportunity to raise money for the NSPCC
which, as a business, we support. It's going to be a pretty painful
experience but I'm banking on the crowd and atmosphere to carry me
across the finishing line."
