Camping and caravanning is still on the up as a carefree,
cost-effective holiday choice - and with Easter just around the
corner, an informative new guide has been launched in the Peak
District and Derbyshire.
The area's official tourist board has joined forces with one of
its key partners, The Camping and Caravanning Club, to produce the
34-page Camping and Caravanning Guide 2011.
As well as tips on how to find the perfect camp site, a full
list of quality graded campsites and their facilities, the 34-page
guide features a useful map showing all eight Camping and
Caravanning Club sites in the area - including its
recently-acquired Alton, The Star Club Site, less than a mile from
Alton Towers, the UK's most visited theme park.
There are also useful details of YHA Camping Barns - plus
information about the area's varied landscapes, towns, villages,
key attractions, fun activities for families, tourist information
and visitor centres.
"We are delighted to have collaborated once again with The
Camping and Caravanning Club to produce this full-colour guide,
with up-to-date details of quality graded camping and caravanning
sites across the area," said David James, Chief Executive at Visit
Peak District & Derbyshire.
"As more people choose to holiday at home in the UK, either for
their main holiday or for more frequent short breaks, it offers a
wealth of information for anyone wanting to pitch their tent or
park their caravan or motor home at a wide variety of
value-for-money locations amid a range of superb landscapes."
Matthew Eastlake, The Club's Marketing & Communications
Director, added: "The Peak District and Derbyshire remain a popular
choice with our members, as families drop their stressful
day-to-day routines and spend some quality time together.
"Campers are also great advocates of enjoying local attractions
and eating locally. They love sharing their recommendations, which
is why the increase in campers within the area is also good news
for the local economy."
Copies of the Camping & Caravanning Guide 2011 are available
at Tourist Information Centres in and around the area. They will
also be on offer at the tourist board's promotional stands at the
Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair, Hardwick Hall, near Chesterfield on
May 21 and 22; BBC Gardeners World Live, NEC Birmingham from June
15 to 19; Derbyshire County Show at Elvaston Castle Country Park on
Sunday June 26 and Bakewell Show on August 3 and 4.
