A Shropshire accountancy firm is bowled over after signing a deal with a high profile county cricketer.

Dyke Yaxley Chartered Accountants, in Shrewsbury, has joined forces with the newly-appointed Captain of Worcestershire County Cricket Club, Daryl Mitchell, and will sponsor his bat for this season.

Tax specialist, Ian Middleton, from the firm, will also hold a workshop with other players at the club to help them with tax issues later in the year.

"We are delighted to be working with Daryl, particularly during his debut season as captain.

"And we're also looking forward to forging stronger links with county cricket," said Ian, who is a keen cricketer himself and keeps wicket for Much Wenlock CC.

"We already support cricket on a number of levels, working closely with the Professional Cricketers' Association and individual players on their financial arrangements.

"And to be given the opportunity to work with Daryl is great news for us - we're very pleased to be on his team."

The accountancy firm has strong links with the sporting world - as well as the Professional Cricketers' Association, they work with the League Managers' Association and several individual football managers.

Daryl said he was excited to be working with Dyke Yaxley and to beginning his first season as captain.
