The cream of performing arts talent will be on show next month
when Coventry University stages 'Spectrum' - its performing arts
festival for 2011.
A launch event on 5 May will herald the start of this year's
prestigious Coventry School of Art and Design (CSAD) Degree
Show.
The range of performances by final year performing arts students
this year has everything from original plays, poetry,
installations, dance and music and is a culmination of three years
work.
The festival launch event on 5 May (which is open to the public)
will showcase a broad range of work from students studying Dance
and Professional Practice, Dance and Theatre and Professional
Practice, Music Composition, Music and Professional Practice and
Theatre and Professional Practice.
The festival performances take place between 9 May to 4 June at
venues across the city and further afield (a full list of
performances will be available nearer the time).
Dr Mark Evans, Associate Dean, CSAD, said:
"The Performing Arts launch event, which is open to the public
as well as staff and students of the University, will be showcasing
a selection of dance, music and theatre performance, both live and
on film.
"It will certainly give a flavour of what will be happening
throughout the Spectrum festival this year and the range of
performances and material produced will cater for most tastes."
Tickets for the launch, which takes place on 5 May at 7pm in The
Ellen Terry Building, Coventry University, are free of charge but
as numbers are restricted, requests for tickets need to be in by
Thursday 28 April.
