Solihull companies may be 'bartering' for business in the
future, thanks to a new initiative pioneered by the borough's
Chamber of Commerce.
The 'bartering' began with a series of micro-business events,
where small businesses gathered to discuss a range of issues
including marketing, IT and financial planning.
The attendees took the opportunity to swop their services and
expertise, with no financial gain taking place.
The informal, round table events were set up by the Chamber to
review and provide advice and support on current issues such as new
legislation.
Businesses who attended the event said they felt isolated
working alone and appreciated the opportunity to share business
ideas.
Jane Jackson, director of Solihull Chamber of Commerce said:
"Members, particularly small businesses, told us they would
find it valuable to be able to discuss problems and receive advice
from professional experts about issues that are relevant to running
a business.
"We would be delighted to hear from companies about what topics
they would like us to feature in the future."
The next event which will be held on 8 June will include a short
presentation from Prime Chartered Accountants on tax efficient
structures, business planning, easy book-keeping and whether to
register for VAT or not.
