Pictured above: Trevor and Caroline
Their names may not be William and Catherine, but Caroline and
Trevor will nevertheless still be treated like royalty by
management and staff at Hadley Park House Hotel, in Telford, when
they tie the knot on Friday, April 29th.
The Shropshire hotel had originally made the offer to allow
anyone named William and Catherine to hold their wedding here for
free on April 29th.
No-one stepped forward, however, apart from Caroline Chadwick
who, while admitting her name was not Catherine, asked the hotel if
she and her very own Prince Charming Trevor Beddow might be allowed
to book their reception if there were no takers for the hotel's
special offer.
So while most eyes will be on events taking place a couple of
hundred miles away on April 29th at Westminster Abbey, all eyes in
Hadley Park House Hotel will be trained on the function suite where
Caroline and Trevor will be celebrating their day to remember.
Trevor, a National Sales manager for FP McCann and a well-known
figure in local football and cricket circles, originates from
Tibberton; while Newport born-and-bred Caroline works for the local
Police Authority.
They have been a couple for 18 years and, as Caroline laughingly
puts it "have been getting married for the last seven years, at
least!". They also have three children: Joe (17), who will be the
Best Man, and twin daughters Blayney & Emma (13), who will be
Bridesmaids.
"Our original offer to host any couple called William and
Catherine for free was made slightly tongue-in-cheek," says Hadley
Park House Hotel's owner and manager, Mr Mark Lewis. "And while we
would most certainly have honoured that offer, no-one came along to
claim the 'prize'. But we are absolutely delighted that our 'Regal
Package' will now be enjoyed to the full by Caroline and Trevor,
and their guests".
Caroline, meanwhile, admits that friends and family have been
waiting for this event for years.
She adds: "Being a Royalist, it has been made extra special by
sharing this special day with HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton
and I hope them as much happiness and Joy as we will have.
"My birthday is on April 28th, so we wanted to book around that
date
"Mark and his team have been extremely helpful with the promise
of making our day very wonderful and I am sure he will leave us
with a feeling of Royalty.
"We have linked our day with a little bit of the Royal theme,
with our tables being named after the Royal residences, and of
course we are on Buckingham!
"I will be spending the morning at Hadley Park House Hotel,
watching the Royal Wedding in London on the TV with my sister
Glenda, our daughters and my hairdresser Zena while Mark & his
team prepare my special day and provide us with bacon sandwiches
and a glass of champagne to toast the Royal couple."
The only thing that will be missing are the mugs and tea towels
with Caroline and Trevor's names and photographs on them!
Hadley Park Hotel itself is a lovingly restored and
sympathetically extended country house hotel with wonderful
history, luxury accommodation, and a fine restaurant.
Ideally suited to couples, or small groups, who are in search of
a bolt-hole while exploring the world famous Ironbridge, or who
want to find out more about how the picturesque village of Much
Wenlock nearby claims to be the starting point of the Modern
Olympics, The Hadley Park Hotel is now offering itself as an oasis
in the heart of Telford.
