Ruth Martin, a tax consultant at the Nottingham office of RSM
Tenon, has won a prestigious award after gaining the best marks in
the UK for an important industry exam.
Ruth achieved the highest marks in one paper of the Society of
Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Diploma examination - and is
set to receive an award at a STEP excellence awards ceremony in
recognition of her success.
Having worked for RSM Tenon for more than 21 years, Ruth sat the
exam after a 15 year break from studying. Ruth took her studies
seriously - and spent so many hours of studying for the exam that
it affected a repetitive strain injury in her right hand.
She said: "Because of the injury to my hand, for the exam I had
to dictate most of my answers to a scribe who wrote them down for
me.
"It was a complete shock to have achieved the highest mark for
the Taxation of Trusts and Estates paper of the STEP diploma.
I am thrilled with the result. The many hours that I spent
studying did pay off and the qualification will mean that I can
provide specialist and more detailed taxation advice and planning
to our high net worth individual clients."
Alistair Wesson, regional director of the East Midlands, said:
"This is an excellent achievement for Ruth, and demonstrates that
hard work and dedication always pays off - a philosophy that I'm
proud to say the team here at RSM Tenon adhere to."
Ruth will be presented with her prestigious award for the
outstanding achievement in the STEP diploma at the STEP Excellence
Awards ceremony on 28 June 2011 at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel,
London.
