Midlands Air Ambulance descended upon Michelin's head office in
Stoke-on-Trent recently, fortunately nobody needed rescuing on this
occasion.
More than 200 employees were invited to witness the arrival of
the Midlands Air Ambulance heli-pod, a decommissioned helicopter,
to an awareness day at the Company's site.
The visit launched a month long recycling initiative that is
running at the Company throughout April.
Employees are being encouraged to bring in all their unwanted
clothing as part of a spring clean to raise money for Midlands Air
Ambulance which was recently named as Michelin's local Charity of
The Year for 2011.
Corinne Li, Community Support Co-ordinator at Michelin said "The
recycling initiative is a great way to get rid of all our unwanted
clothes whilst raising money for a really worthwhile charity."
Employees voted to support Midlands Air Ambulance last month
(March). In addition to the spring clean, Michelin employees will
be hosting a number of initiatives to mark the 20th anniversary of
Midlands Air Ambulance including a 'brew at 2', monthly dress down
days and a pie and peas quiz night.
"We are honoured to be working with some fantastic local
businesses this year. As a charity we receive no central funding so
the money donated by Michelin will make a direct and real impact on
saving lives across local communities." says Corporate Fundraising
Manager at Midlands Air Ambulance Stef Langford Brown.
And for the first time in the Company's history Michelin will
match whatever is raised by its staff doubling the total amount
handed over to Midlands Air Ambulance at the beginning of next
year.
Midlands Air Ambulance is celebrating its 20th anniversary this
year marking two decades of airlifting seriously ill people to
hospital across the Midlands.
