After six months and scores of conversations with its customers,
whg, the borough's largest landlord, has published its new service
promises.
Covering everything from cleaning to activities for young people
in Bloxwich, the promises, called local offers, explain what whg's
customers can receive and the standards they can expect.
Along with every landlord in the country, whg has been finding
out from its customers what services really matter to them and how
they should be delivered.
The offers focus on four key areas of services and each one
reflects comments from customers. The promises include extending
the offer of low cost home insurance and the option of weekend and
evening appointments for gas servicing.
As well as promises and standards that apply to all customers
there are some aimed at specific groups of customers, from people
living in flats to families and leaseholders.
Young people living in Smith House and Thomas House in Bloxwich
are pledged more social and sporting activities and vulnerable
people will get a weekly wellbeing call as part of a commitment to
help customers stay independent.
Debra Berry, whg's Head of Housing Customer Services, said:
"We've worked with customers to produce this comprehensive set of
local offers and service standards and thank all for their
contribution, it's been invaluable.
"I was inspired to hear a good many customers ask for more
support services on behalf of vulnerable people and think that
shows true community spirit."
Customers will review the promises and standards each year and
whg will explain how well it is doing against each one in its
annual report, published in October. They will be changed to
reflect customer needs and expectations.
Housing service panels will meet quarterly to monitor whg and
check the standards are being met. Colleagues will attend the
meetings for question and answer sessions designed to hold the
organisation to account.
