A poetry anthology featuring the work of 33 top poets appearing
at a Shropshire festival has been published to mark the event.
The Wenlock Poetry Festival Anthology was published by Ellingham
Press in Much Wenlock on April 14 and will feature poetry by the
greats - including some verses that have never been seen
before.
The festival was founded by Anna Dreda, of Wenlock Books, and
will take place on April 29, 30 and 31. It boasts Poet Laureate
Carol Ann Duffy, former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion and national
Poet of Wales Gillian Clarke as its patrons.
Ina Taylor, of Ellingham Press, said: "We are delighted to be
producing the Wenlock Poetry Festival Anthology for 2011. It offers
poetry fans a unique chance to collect signed copies of poems by
most of the leading poets all in one book - a collector's item
indeed!
"Featuring the work of all 33 poets appearing at this year's
festival, the anthology includes poems by Carol Ann Duffy, patron
of the Wenlock Poetry Festival, Andrew Motion, Simon Armitage and
Jo Shapcott.
"Some of the poems have been written especially for the
anthology so people buying it will get an exclusive first look at
original poems by these top poets.
"It is a privilege have worked on such a wonderful
publication."
The three-day Wenlock Poetry Festival includes readings,
performance poetry, poetry choir, poetry take-away, knitted poetry,
poetry in art, workshops, poetry for kids, street poetry and even a
poetry café.
