Director of the Year' award
Mohammed Hussain, Managing Director of online mobile accessories
retailer Mobile Fun, has been named regional 'Young Director of the
Year' at last week's West Midlands' Institute of Directors (IoD)
Director of the Year Awards.
Established in 1903, the IoD is Europe's largest membership
organisation for business leaders and provides support, advice and
professional development programmes and training opportunities to
senior level professionals. Held annually, the IoD Director of the
Year Awards celebrate the very best in UK business. Open to
Directors across the business spectrum, the regional award winners
go forward to the national awards event, which determines who is
the overall winner and 'best of the best' in British business.
John Phillips, Regional Director for the West Midlands' IoD,
said: 'We were very impressed with Mohammed's enthusiasm. It is
wonderful to see someone who is so passionate about their product
and so very focused and dedicated to staff development. Mohammed
has worked very hard to achieve all he has done in his business
life, at such a young age, and very much deserves this award.
"Mohammed, 31, has taken the business to over £9 million
turnover and it is now one of the UK's leading internet retailers
of mobile phone accessories. Mohammed has also opened offices in
France and Germany so the business has continued to grow at a
phenomenal rate, through the recession. Winning the regional award
for 'Young Director of the Year' showcases him as the very best in
his field according to the IoD."
Established in 2000, Mobile Fun is the UK's leading online
retailer of 'Everything Mobile' - offering a market-leading range
of over 7,000 globally-sourced accessories for mobile phones and
other mobile devices from its www.mobilefun.co.uk website. Mohammed
joined Mobile Fun in 2003 as its eighth member of staff and, prior
to his role as MD, was Mobile Fun's Procurement Director from 2006
to 2009.
Mohammed Hussain commented: "I am honoured to have been chosen
as the region's 'Young Director of the Year', especially as I was
up against such impressive candidates. Although I have only been
Mobile Fun's MD since April 2009, I have been with the company over
seven years and have seen it develop into a market leader within
both the mobile and online retailer industries. My responsibility
for delivering company strategy and heading up our international
team, across the UK, Germany and France, has been instrumental in
driving forward Mobile Fun's healthy financial performance and I
look forward to our continuing success, which will hopefully
include me winning the national award in September."
Mobile Fun also recently celebrated being ranked sixth in the
Experian Hitwise Top 10 websites of 2010, based on market share of
visits among all UK websites in the Hitwise Entertainment - Mobile
Phones industry, and won the 'Online Retailer of the Year' title at
this year's Mobile News Awards.
