The independent sector health team at national law firm Mills
& Reeve has advised Allied Healthcare, the NASDAQ listed
provider of flexible healthcare staffing services across the UK, on
its acquisition of ScotHomecare for £2.5 million.
Old Kilpatrick-based ScotHomecare is a flexible domiciliary
homecare business with ten UK branches and delivers more than
10,000 care hours per week for the elderly, as well as for adults
with physical disabilities.
Allied Healthcare, which is headquartered in Staffordshire,
operates a community-based network of approximately 120 branches -
including eight in the West Midlands - in the UK and Ireland and
provides carers, nurses, and specialised medical personnel to
locations covering approximately 90 per cent of the UK population
with revenues in excess of £170 million. The transaction also
makes Allied Healthcare the largest provider of domiciliary care in
Scotland.
The Mills & Reeve team was led by corporate partner, Julian
Smith, and associate, Stephen Hamilton. Kathleen Stewart WS advised
the sellers, Brodies LLP provided Scottish advice to Allied and
Shepherd & Wedderburn advised Bank of Scotland.
