Energetic members of The Phoenix Partners in Sileby, were hoping
purple power would help them to complete their first team running
challenge in the Derbyshire Building Society 10k on 3rd April, in
aid of Sporting Futures.
Little did team members know when newly-appointed marketing
communications executive Jenni Manning-Ohren arrived on her first
day at the Leicestershire live events and communications agency,
that within hours she would have persuaded them to don their
trainers and sport go-faster purple wigs in recognition of the
company's corporate colours.
Led by managing director Rachel Hargrave, the team for the
annual event at Pride Park Stadium in Derby also included Matt
Stokes, Nikki Stokes, Jenni and David Manning-Ohren.
Rachel said: "We didn't break any race records, but we had a
fantastic time as a team. The weather was kind, albeit a bit hot in
the wigs and we were thoroughly looked after from start to
finish."
Team members had been training in their lunch hours and getting
a few funny looks from the locals when trying out their wigs to
make sure they stayed the distance. The wigs and bright t-shirts
certainly created lots of laughter amongst the children and
families spectating around the course.
