Andrew Bridgen, Member of Parliament for North West
Leicestershire, has taken time out of his busy schedule campaigning
for local elections and the referendum on AV to visit aerial
surveying company Bluesky. Mr Bridgen made the visit to the
company's headquarters in Coalville, Leicestershire in order to get
a greater understanding of the pioneering work the company is
undertaking developing geographic data products for environmental
applications.
Andrew said, "It is a real inspiration to see the innovation
that radiates from this group of people. By using state of the art
technology to capture highly accurate geographical data, they are
helping address some of the big challenges we are facing as a
society."
Bluesky recently launched the first nationwide Solar Suitability
Map designed to help local government, utilities, housing
associations and solar panel companies identify optimum properties
for solar power, achieve renewable energy targets and reduce
soaring energy costs. The company has also developed products to
help map Britain's cities and towns at night; accurately recording
the location of street lights, illuminated road signs and other
night-time sources of light, and a 3D map accurately modelling the
location and extent of trees and their proximity to buildings.
Rachel Tidmarsh, Managing Director of Bluesky said, "It was a
real honour to welcome Andrew. Many people know us as simply the
aerial photo company so it was pleasing to be able to show him the
wide range of environmental solutions we can deliver."
