Accountants and business advisers Mazars are enjoying major
expansion since moving into the heart of Birmingham's city centre
business district.
The firm has had to recruit 22 new staff - a 15 per cent
increase in total staff - since moving the headquarters of its
Midland operation into 45 Church Street, Birmingham, at the end of
September 2010.
Midland managing partner David Chapman said the recruitment had
been across all divisions and had been driven by new business wins
and Mazars' international reach.
"Since moving into the centre of Birmingham, we have won new
business from bluechip clients such as Pertemps and Aviva, and the
team here already works for an expanding list of international and
quoted clients including Alstom UK, Manganese Bronze Holdings,
Portmeirion Group PLC, Schneider Electric, GeoPost and Arval. We
know Tata well in India and we are continuing to work for Jaguar
Land Rover in the Midlands," he said.
The need to recruit was driven not only by the need to service
new clients but also an increasing volume of work in specialist
areas such as forensics, corporate finance and governance and
internal risk control.
"Mazars is winning new business because clients recognise that
we are a genuinely integrated international practice, rather than a
network of allied firms or separate partnerships in different
countries," he added.
During 2010, Mazars achieved a string of awards and new business
wins.
Currently ranked as ninth largest UK accountancy firm by audit
fee income, in February 2010, the firm was placed first in the
inaugural Accountancy Age/Financial Director audit services
satisfaction survey. This was followed by the Employment Tax
Services team being awarded "Best Tax Team in a Large Firm" at this
year's LexisNexis Taxation awards.
In the UK, Mazars is the ninth largest partnership in terms of
audit fee income and employs over 1100 people, including more than
100 partners, in 15 offices throughout the country.
