The Stourbridge-based Western Region of Mansell has been awarded
three health and community centre design and build contracts worth
more than £20 million in total. One of the contracts also
includes a new church in Sparkbrook to replace the one severely
damaged in the 2005 tornado.
The contracts have been placed by Prime - the Birmingham and
Solihull Local Improvement Finance Trust (BaS LIFT) and their
private sector partner Prime plc. They include a health and
wellbeing centre in Washwood Heath, a health centre in Attwood
Green, Lee Bank, and a community and health centre and new church
in Sparkbrook.
The Washwood Heath contract involves the design and build of a
new three storey primary care centre which will include a new GP
practice, urgent care facilities, clinics, a pharmacy and
café. The £6.35 million construction project is being
built on a brownfield site and will provide the local community
with state of the art healthcare facilities on their doorstep.
The £7.3 million Sparkbrook construction project includes
a three storey community centre and a new church to replace the
Victorian built Christ Church on the same site, which was seriously
damaged in the 2005 tornado that hit Birmingham. The new facilities
include GP and nurse facilities, clinics, dental services and a
pharmacy. The centre will also include a library, a Birmingham City
Council Customer Service Centre, a community centre, six start-up
offices and an enclosed garden.
The Attwood Green Health Centre will include a six storey
primary care and sexual health centre including two GP practices,
clinics, a dental surgery, pharmacy and treatment rooms. The
£7.3 million construction project includes car parking and
improvements to surrounding roads.
As well as these three projects, Mansell is building a
neighbourhood care centre and community facility for CareCapital in
Allesley Park, Coventry, and has completed a £12.5 million
contract for a primary and extra care village in
Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Steve Davies, Mansell's Western Region managing director said
these contracts further reinforced Mansell's presence in the health
sector.
"Mansell has developed a strong track record and valuable
expertise in this kind of work, which involves close consultation
with local residents to ensure the minimum of disruption," he
said.
"We recognise how important developments like these are to the
communities they serve and we are proud to be playing a key role in
providing them."
