Mansell's development manager John Booth
Mansell Construction staff organised a Big Conversation event at
Solihull College to talk about careers in construction.
Company representatives set up at stations around the hall to
talk to groups of students about their various areas of expertise.
Subjects included design and build, quantity surveying, project
management, site management, health and safety and tenant
liaison.
Mansell also laid on a workshop to discuss interview techniques,
which included role playing and practical tips.
Mansell is carrying out a £25 million contract for
Solihull Community Housing, undertaking Decent Homes improvements
and refurbishment work to the local authority housing stock.
Mansell Western region partnership housing manager, Simon
Liversage said, "We understand the importance of getting over the
message that the construction industry can be exciting. We have to
enthuse and inform pupils as to the wide range of career
opportunities in construction."
Mark King, Construction Head of School at Solihull College said,
"The collaboration between the college and Mansell gave added value
to our construction students. It not only tied in with their BTEC
First Diploma in Construction, but it also increased their
understanding of the future career paths available within the
construction industry. We hope to make this an annual event so we
can further develop our successful relationship with Mansell and
provide an enhanced level of learning to our students."
