Flags will fly and bunting will decorate a West Bromwich church
hall when residents gather to watch the royal wedding.
Lyng Community Association (LCA) is throwing a party for its
tenants and near neighbours so they can celebrate the future
monarch's marriage in style.
Guests have been invited to attend the community bash at Good
Shepherd Church Hall, Lyttleton Street, to watch the wedding live
on an 8ft screen.
The party will start at 10am and last until 4pm on Friday, 29th
April. There will be hot and cold food and drinks, wedding
cup cakes, a face painter, magician, bouncy castle and arcade-style
children's games.
Bunting, balloons and flags will dress the hall and there will
be face masks and life-size cut-outs of Prince William and blushing
bride Kate Middleton.
Chair of LCA Wendy Bodenham will be among those enjoying the
festivities. She said: "We'd love all our tenants to come to
the party and enjoy this special occasion with their family,
friends and neighbours. The Lyng has always been known as a
close-knit community and it would be great to see that spirit
flourish.
"We have organised the event to celebrate the royal wedding but
it's also intended as a big thank you to our tenants for their
support during the regeneration of the Lyng estate."
Guests are asked to RSVP to melanie@wordassociation.co.uk or
return their reply slip to the LCA office at 3, Charity Bick Way,
West Bromwich, B70 7RG so catering arrangements can be
finalised.
LCA, which currently owns 86 homes on the Lyng, is working with
Sandwell Council and Barratt West Midlands to redevelop the area
with 364 new properties for rent and sale, open space and a
children's playground.
The multi-million pound project is thought to be the biggest
residential regeneration scheme in the West Midlands. The
first homes and a purpose-built office for LCA will be completed by
July.
