Jean-Christophe Novelli has been scouring the country for the
UK's best potato recipe. Local Indian chef, Anita Sharma-James for
The Spice Trade was invited to cook with the celebrity at a
regional road show in Cardiff last Friday after submitting an
inspiring potato based recipe.
After being shortlisted to one of 25 of Britain's budding chefs,
Anita cooked her infamous vegetable pakora live on stage at the
Capital Shopping Centre as part of the "Master Spud" competition.
The heat is on to win votes from the public for a position in
the big final and a chance to star in a National TV advert with
Jean-Christophe when one chef will be crowned Master Spud
2011.
Anita says "I'm thrilled to have made it through to the regional
competitions. I'm passionate about fresh local produce and when
combined with the right spice blends, the result is a perfect
marriage of heavenly flavours and health benefits.
My vegetable pakora. recipe is a perfect example, they are
delicious gluten free, packed with fresh vegetables lentil flour
packed with protein, both nutritious and delicious. Given the
Britain's love of Indian cuisine, it would be lovely to have a
representative dish with local potatoes in the final on the
TV."
Anita has demonstrated how to cook this dish at the BBC Good
Food Show and at The Malvern Three Counties Show, as well as in the
TASTE kitchen at The Shropshire Food Enterprise Centre.
