A leading business advisor from the Midlands is aiming to bring
companies of all sizes to work together more closely in his new
role with the region's biggest business lobby group.
Kevin Harris, partner at business advisory firm Cooper Parry,
based in the Business Quarter, Leicester is the new deputy chairman
at the Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce - a position which he
aims to create stronger links between the chamber and the business
community in the city and county.
Mr Harris, with over two decades of industry experience, says he
will put enterprise at top of the agenda after making it a key
priority for the chamber to work more closely with businesses of
all sizes to revive the local economy, drive forward regeneration
and increase inward investment.
Mr Harris said: "I'm delighted and truly honoured to be taking
on this new role and providing a more direct link between the
Leicestershire chamber and businesses in the region.
"Leicestershire has some of the best businesses, both big and
small, and it's crucial we work closely to further boost our
economy, as well as looking to the future by promoting our
offering.
"At Cooper Parry our aim is to help businesses to grow and be
successful. A lot of that experience I'd like to bring to the
Chamber and help it to grow. The Leicestershire Chamber is the
ideal place for local businesses to come together and share ideas
and support leadership for our region."
Mr Harris took over the deputy chairman's role from Mary Irving,
of marketing firm Tangible Results after three years as a
non-executive director on the chamber's 15-person board.
He joined Cooper Parry in 1995 from Bentley Jennison, in
Birmingham and became a partner in 2000. A year later, he set up
the firm's Leicester office, which was originally at The Crescent,
off King Street, before it relocated to Colton Square in 2008.
John Day, chairman of the Leicestershire Chamber of Commerce,
said: "I am delighted that Kevin Harris has been elected to become
deputy chairman having been a non-executive director for the last
three years.
"Kevin brings excellent financial and business planning skills
to the board, with an in-depth knowledge of the Leicestershire
business community through his role at Cooper Parry. Working
closely with our president, Rick Moore, our group managing
director, Martin Traynor, and myself, Kevin has already proved to
be a real asset to the Chamber."
