Former head gardener Sue Hoy is on a mission to help budding and seasoned gardeners to work a little magic on their patch, via the Internet.

Sue, who used to care for the impressive gardens at Normanby Hall, near Scunthorpe, has teamed-up with Snitterby-based gardensupplies.co.uk to share hot tips and tricks for making all sizes of garden beautiful and productive.

The writer and consultant - who was a horticulture lecturer at Bishop Burton College for 12 years - is also a committee member of the Royal Horticultural Society and in demand to give talks countrywide, as well as advice to garden planners.

And gardensupplies.co.uk is thrilled that Sue will not only be writing a monthly advice blog, offering hot tips and "How to" instructions, but also embarking on, a complete review of gardensupplies' products over the coming year - to  ensure gardeners across the UK are buying exactly what they need for success.

Sue said: "There are so many keen gardeners who don't get the best from their gardens for lack of advice. I'm also keen to make sure they get value for money when buying gardening products and that they are choosing the right "tools" for the job."

Sue may have a wealth of experience under her belt, but she is eager to encourage everyone to discover the pleasures of gardening, including people just starting out.

"I love gardening.  It's so satisfying and it offers everyone the opportunity to be really creative, whether they're a beginner or an expert, irrespective of whether they have 10 square feet or 10 acres of garden," she said.

It doesn't matter whether they are desperate to have stunningly colourful borders, a thriving vegetable patch or a haven for wildlife, gardening is one of the best things they will ever do, said Sue.

"I love plants and I can't resist buying them or propagating my own from seeds and cuttings. Growing things from seed is amazing. I also have a large vegetable plot in my own cottage garden and I've always loved being able to walk out there and cut a lettuce or pull a few carrots - the fresh taste of homegrown vegetables is so different from anything you can buy.

"As a professional gardener, I've used a lot of equipment and products over the years and I want to use this experience to help other gardeners to get the best out of what they buy and to avoid gimmicky gadgets that they'll never use," added Sue.

Gardensupplies.co.uk director Zoe Henderson said: "Sue Hoy is right on top  of her game and we are thrilled to have her on board. We know that she will be offering our customers a wealth of expert advice, through her monthly blogs and regular "How to" section."
