A top Shropshire company is to take a lead role at this year's
Shropshire County Show.
GKN Wheels have been a key sponsor of the event in the past and
shown their support for many years.
The Telford-based company is a major producer of wheels for
agricultural equipment, as well as for the construction and mining
sectors. Its local production facility is complemented by others in
China, Denmark, Italy and the USA enabling it to supply markets
worldwide.
Managing director Steven Norgrove said: "We made the world's
first steel wheel here in Telford in 1910. We can't claim to have
been around quite as long as the show which, of course, dates back
122 years.
"However, we can say that the company has evolved alongside it.
From modest beginnings, the County Show today draws people from
right across the country - and beyond. Over a similar period GKN
has grown into a global business, with the Wheels division alone
employing some 1,540 people.
"The Show is a great place to meet, do business and simply enjoy
a day out. We are delighted to be supporting it again and very much
looking forward to working with the organisers in the run up to,
and during, this May's event.
"It promises to be one of the best ever - with the packed
programme appealing not just to the agricultural community but to
the much wider audience for whom this is a key occasion in the
annual calendar."
