Freight forwarder backs top-flight motorsport

Award-winning shipping company Global Freight is entering the glamorous and high speed world of motorsport with it's backing of a top-class racing team.

The Midlands-based international freight forwarder has announced its sponsorship of British Superbikes (BSB) challenger, MSS Kawasaki, which will be a key contender in this year's championship.

The Global Freight branding will be on both of the team's all-new Kawasaki ZX-10R superbikes each time they take to the track, in what is considered to be the most competitive national motorcycle racing championship in the world. BSB is watched by more than eight million people on television in the UK alone, with a massive following around the world.

Global Freight managing director, Nicole Howarth, explained the move: "We saw this as a great opportunity for Global Freight to put its brand in front of a huge audience and make connections with potential customers in the motorsports world. BSB gets 250 hours of UK television coverage a year alone, as well as being broadcast on networks around the world. Added to that is tremendous exposure in international print and online media, reaching hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people directly. For an international business such as ours, that has a potentially huge benefit.

"It was also a great time to back MSS Kawasaki because the team will be running the very latest model ZX-10R motorbikes which have been the talk of the motorcycling media for months now. The chance to have Global Freight's name on those bikes was too good to miss.

"The team has top riders Stuart Easton and Gary Mason signed and it really looks like a very promising year for them. At Global Freight we're focused on being at the leading edge of our industry, so an association with this very exciting and demanding sport, and in particular with a motorbike at the cutting edge of technology, sits very well with our ethos. It's also going to bring an extra thrill to watching the racing knowing that we have a direct interest in the results!"

As well as being featured on the bellypans of the racing bikes, Telford-based Global Freight's branding will appear on the race trucks, team website and press releases, pit garage hoardings and the team hospitality unit.

MSS Colchester Kawasaki team owner, Nick Morgan, said: "Global Freight is a fantastic new partner for us, not only from a sponsorship point of view but our Superbike effort is an extremely logistically difficult prospect. We race across the UK, the Isle of Man TT and have a major annual International race at the Macau GP in the Far East, all of which we will look for the skills and support of Global Freight."

With motorcycle racing, its supporting industries and other sponsors having huge logistics requirements themselves, the Global Freight team are planning to get to as many BSB rounds as possible throughout the coming season, which begins at Kent's famous Brands Hatch circuit on April 22.

Global Freight, which last year scooped the 2010 Shropshire Small Business of the Year Award, are experts in import, export and cross trade delivery and contracting by air, sea or road, as well as packaging, and can also provide extensive guidance and advice on the new Incoterms.
