The Anthony Collins Solicitors' FourCubed team has commenced
final preparations for the Virgin London Marathon on 17 April 2011.
The four lawyers are delighted to announce that they will be
running the London marathon with the support of No5 Chambers who
have made an extremely generous donation of £5000.
The Virgin London Marathon represents the 5th of 12 runs that
the FourCubed team are taking part in within a 12 month period, the
aim being to raise as much money as possible for the charity
Whizz-Kidz. The Team has already completed the Birmingham Half
Marathon, the Gloucester Marathon, a Stratford 10km race and most
recently the Liverpool Half Marathon.
The running team consists of Rankeshwar Batta, a Partner at the
firm who is Black Country born and bred, and three newly qualified
solicitors - Amy O'Connor from Stourbridge, Kate Jackson who lives
in Birmingham and, David Evison who was raised in Shrewsbury,
Shropshire and also now lives in Birmingham.
Rankeshwar said: "At Anthony Collins Solicitors we have a
fantastic working relationship with No5 Chambers; we are extremely
grateful for the support they have given towards our challenge. The
barristers and staff at No5, like us, come across clients, often
children, who are dealing with severe injuries, some of whom would
benefit enormously from the good work of Whizz Kidz.
"Whizz-Kidz improves the lives of many children and young people
in the UK, so choosing to support the charity was an easy decision
for the team as it closely aligns with the team's personal beliefs,
as well as Anthony Collins' values and ethos."
"With this fantastic donation, the running team has stormed past
its minimum, sponsorship target, of £6,400, less than half
way through the challenge. This fills us with hope that we can push
ahead and raise a final total which can make a big difference to
Whizz Kidz and the children they help."
"All money the running team raises will sit alongside the money
raised by the other teams within the firm, as several departments
have been organising individual events and already raised several
thousand pounds to assist their chosen charities. The hope is that,
through the FourCubed initiative, Anthony Collins Solicitors can
make a huge combined impact on several charities and their
beneficiaries."
Tony McDaid, Practice Director at No5 Chambers, said: "Having
worked with Rankey and the Anthony Collins team for a number of
years, we were amazed to hear of the challenge they had set
themselves and vowed to help them as much as we could along the
way. Of course, it is wonderful to be able to support the team in
the build up to the showpiece Virgin London Marathon and even more
so to be able to donate to Whizz Kidz who undoubtedly do a
fantastic job."
The inspiration for FourCubed came about when Rankeshwar Batta
turned 40 this year and wanted to make an extra special
contribution to fundraising with the objective of raising as much
money as possible over a 12 month period. He then convinced
three fellow Anthony Collins' solicitors to take part.
Other charities benefiting from the committed efforts of the
kindhearted people at Anthony Collins Solicitors include: Rathbone,
Cord, MLST, Cerebra, The Children's Society, Cystic Fibrosis,
SENSE, The Lighthouse Group and YMCA.
The FourCubed team will have no time to rest after London as
members move on to training for the Edinburgh Marathon at the end
of May.
