The first phase of Orega's Colmore Plaza business centre in Birmingham is now fully occupied following the signing of recruitment company Idex.

The deal with Idex, which has taken 34 workstations for its new Midlands head office, is the tip of a wave of activity at the business centre this year. As a result, the first phase of 12,500 sq ft is now full, kick-starting a second phase of 7,500 sq ft which is already generating interest.

Idex specialises in recruiting consultants in the insurance, financial services and claims markets and is moving its Midlands base from nearby Temple Row. Established in 2006, it also has offices in Manchester and Bristol.

Other new signings this year include Freedom Recruitment, Branch Martin Spicer Marketing, German insurance company HDI-Gerling, P&C Financial Services and Hington Klarsey.

The business centre is located on the mezzanine floor of Colmore Plaza with a separate reception area and meeting rooms on the ground floor of the 14-storey, Grade 'A' office building. The striking glass-fronted property is owned by The Carlyle Group and has a BREEAM excellent rating.

Flexible office provider Orega has operated the business centre in Colmore Plaza for just over a year. All nine of its business centres share the same characteristics of high quality building and distinctive interiors, a full range of meeting rooms and services and an on-site team that is available to help with every aspect of a client's office needs.

Caron Salter-Hill, Orega's sales and business centre manager in Birmingham, says: "It has been a very good start to the year for us and we hope to maintain the momentum with the second phase of the business centre. New clients - some of whom have moved from rival serviced office schemes - often cite quality of the building, together with the highly professional welcome and help they receive at Colmore Plaza, as a key factor in their decision to move here. The flexibility of the offer and the sophisticated IT and telecoms support they receive are also important in their choice. We look forward to welcoming more new clients in the near future."
