Fashion footwear retailer steps into Highcross' Whittle Estate

Highcross has let a 43,000 sq ft unit at its Whittle Estate near Leicester to fashion and footwear retailer, Dune Group.

The Dune Group, which includes the Dune, Bertie and Chelsea Cobbler footwear and accessories brands, will be using the premises for storage and dispatch for its ecommerce business.

The Dune Group already has a depot in the Whetstone area, and the decision to take on an additional unit at the Whittle Estate, reflects the growth in ecommerce and the company's expansion into opening shop-in-shop concessions within major department stores.

Roger Crooks, head of distribution at The Dune Group comments: "We now have more than forty shops in the UK, plus around 150 concessions in key department stores throughout the UK and Europe, and this has created a need for further warehouse facilities. The size of the unit at the Whittle Estate and its proximity to our core operations were key elements in our decision to take the premises."

Highcross has let the unit to The Dune Group on a three year lease. Asset manager, Joe Curlett comments: "Following this significant letting, the Whittle Estate is 95% occupied, demonstrating the strength of its location, facilities and the flexible, affordable space available."

The 54-acre Whittle Estate includes 660,000 sq ft of industrial, warehouse and office space. Located five miles from central Leicester, the estate has an on-site estate manager, cafe, meeting room facilities and 24-hour manned security.
