The Birmingham office of global real estate services firm, DTZ
has acquired an 11,700 sq ft office building in Bromsgrove,
Worcestershire on behalf of The Stroke Association. The charity is
establishing a Life After Stroke Centre, the first stroke centre of
its type in the UK.
DTZ's office agency team secured the property, located in the
Old School House on Church Lane in Bromsgrove, from Cemex who were
advised by BNP Paribas. The centre will offer a range of services
including communications support, family and carer support, an
information and advice resource centre and a full range of training
programmes for stroke survivors, their families and carers and
professionals.
Andrew Berry, Senior Surveyor at DTZ in Birmingham, commented:
"The Stroke Association's existing premises at Windsor House in
Birmingham were no longer fit for purpose. After working closely
with them, we identified a number of potential locations for the
Life After Stroke Centre with key priorities including, accessible
location, capacity for services, training and meeting rooms and
parking space."
He continued: "The property in Bromsgrove provided the right
combination and, once the refurbishment works have been completed,
the centre will offer an unrivalled facility for stroke survivors,
their families and care workers."
Lyn Dunkley, Head of Facilities at The Stroke Association,
added: "DTZ helped us to hone our criteria for the Centre and we
are delighted with our new premises. Purchasing this freehold
property not only meets the needs of our expanding organisation but
shows our commitment to improving life after stroke for the
thousands of stroke survivors through training, services and
information. We'll bring together stroke survivors and their
families, professionals, volunteers and care workers to share best
practice, experience and knowledge."
The Life After Stroke Centre is currently undergoing a
refurbishment programme which is due for completion in autumn 2011.
