Glamour, glitter and gleaming smiles will be the order of the day as a team of leisure centre staff take to the dance floor for a good cause.

Members of Coventry Sports Foundation have arranged a special ballroom dancing competition for the Teenage Cancer Trust. The 12 couples taking part have just received their costumes for the evening and are putting the final touches to their routines ahead of the main event on Friday, April 8.

Now the participants, who have been rehearsing since September, are aiming to sell the final few tickets for the event which will take place at the Xcel Leisure Centre in Mitchell Avenue from 7pm.

Wendy Jackson, community development manager at Coventry Sports Foundation, said: "The evening promises to be quite spectacular visually and everyone involved has given up a lot of their time and put a huge amount of effort into preparing for the occasion.

"We are hoping to produce a really polished performance and to raise money for a very important cause so we need as many people as possible to get in touch and support the event in any way they can!"

To purchase tickets for the evening, which are priced at £18 and include a two- course meal, or to donate a raffle prize for the event contact Wendy on 02476 856956 or email wajackson@covsf.com
