Local girl Carly Weston is the glamorous new face of glass
technicians at the Birmingham branch of National Mobile
Windscreens, where she has become the first female vehicle glass
repair specialist.
Carly, aged 23, qualified through the company training scheme
and is now a valuable member of the busy team at the branch at
Phoenix Park, Aston, who respond to emergency calls from drivers
needing assistance for broken or chipped windscreens and other
vehicle glass problems.
"Drivers are a bit surprised when I arrive because this is
generally regarded as a man's job, but I deal with it very
professionally and we are getting good feedback from our
customers," she said.
"The best part of the work is that drivers are quite often
stressed out when you arrive because the damage has wrecked their
plans and they are up against the clock. But once the work is done
they can get back on the road and go away happy customers," she
said.
Carly, a former pupil at Alderbrook School, joined the company
in January. She has previously worked in the parts department of a
garage and also did a spot of modelling at the Max Power show at
the Birmingham NEC.
"I love my new job because I get out and about meeting new
people, and I also get on well working with my male colleagues who
treat me like their younger sister," she said.
Carly's hobbies include motorbikes, photography, socialising.
She wants to own a Harley Davidson and travel, but admits loving
the colour pink and has a pink 4x4 and a pink motorcycle.
Branch manager John Shoer said: "Carly has settled in very well
and is a valuable member of our team"
