Miles Templeman, Director General of the Institute of Directors
(IoD), will meet some of the region's emerging and entrepreneurial
business leaders at an event in Nottingham next week which
recognises the high value of education and industry links.
Nottingham Business School, part of Nottingham Trent University
and the University's enterprise centre, The Hive, home to many
successful new business ventures, will be visited by Miles
Templeman on Thursday 5 May. He will have discussions with
Nottingham Trent University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Neil
Gorman, other business experts and students.
Miles Templeman will be at Nottingham Trent University to
officially launch the IoD's new city centre East Midlands Regional
Office base in the Nottingham Conference Centre, housed in the
University's Newton Building. He and the IoD's East Midlands
Chairman, Peter Fothergill will also host a regional business
lunch.
Ron Lynch, IoD East Midlands Regional Director, commented: "We
are now part of a thriving university community which also offers
our members modern business facilities and an executive lounge. It
is a further link between business and education, which is so
important to us and the growth of the regional economy."
Several Nottingham Business School students will meet the
Director General to discuss how their activities are making an
impact in the business community. They will also be guests at the
lunch with Lucy Herreras-Griffiths, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire
Chair of the IoD's proactive Young Directors' Forum. Lucy is a
Graphic Design graduate from Nottingham Trent University and
co-founder of KuKu Apps.
Professor Neil Gorman said; "At Nottingham Trent University we
work with over 6,000 employers globally and maintain mutually
beneficial relationships. Not only do our students gain valuable
experience from access to these companies, but they in turn can
access our expertise through the consultancy work we provide. These
sorts of two-way relationships between universities and businesses
are vital and so we're very pleased to be building on this with the
IoD and welcoming them into the University."
