Britain's Got Talent is as hot as ever after spicing up the show
with a visit to Birmingham's Asha's Restaurant.
The Simon Cowell-inspired programme is all fired up for its
fifth series in April and viewers are set for a glimpse inside the
kitchen of the award-winning venue.
It was a case of "lights, camera, action" as a team recorded a
slot for the upcoming Birmingham heat of the hugely popular talent
contest which has discovered singing sensation Susan Boyle and many
other stars.
In keeping with the theme Solihull performer, "The Fool Monty",
a fire eater, was the centre of attention as head chef Guneet Singh
checked him out, perhaps pondering whether it could prove a quick
way of cooking the king prawns!
The jester, a regular at the likes of Ragley Hall and Warwick
Castle, has been an entertainer for 18 years, full-time
professional for the last two.
"It was great fun - I really enjoyed it," he said.
The BGT idea was to go out across the city and film local people
with distinctive talents including an opera singer, florist and
acrobat-cum-builder.
"We wanted real people at work," said a spokesman for the
show.
Jai George, Asha's general manager, added: "It was an honour for
us to host the team - they were very appreciative of the
ambience.
"And, given the talent in our kitchen, it was very
appropriate."
BGT launched in 2007, the same year Asha's opened.
Old friends financier Paul Bassi and Pawan Kenth, managing
director of Corporatewear UK, own the UK franchise rights to
Asha's.
