Andy Raynor, the chief executive of RSM Tenon, ran in the London
Marathon with a time of 3 hours 53 minutes, raising funds for The
Ear Foundation, a Nottingham based charity.
Andy took part in the gruelling marathon last week raising more
than £3,000 for his chosen charity.
The Ear Foundation is a charity founded by Nottingham surgeon
Gerry O'Donoghue and Barry McCormick, audiological scientist, in
1989. It was established as a charity funding and providing
cochlear implants for deaf children
Andy said: "I'd like to thank The Ear Foundation for all the
support the staff gave me. It's typical of an organisation that
really cares and I've been delighted to contribute in return. Wait
a few days before you ask me if I would do it again!
"Of course it is a challenge, and yes it hurts, but if you've
been trying to get a time under 4 hours, like I have, for the last
10 years or so, finally achieving it is more than enough of a
painkiller! An ambition fulfilled, one I thought I'd never do - and
now I'm wondering how fast I could do it in if I tried even
harder!"
Jo Collinson, fundraising co-ordinator for The Ear Foundation
said: "The Ear Foundation was delighted when Andy got in touch to
offer to run the marathon for us. We know that to run a marathon
takes great dedication and we really appreciate the amount of money
that he has raised - above and beyond all of our expectations.
"The Ear Foundation provides support to children and adults who
are profoundly deaf and use the latest in hearing technology. The
money that Andy has raised will enable us to continue to deliver
these much needed services. We are extremely grateful to Andy for
his commitment and support and to all those that sponsored
him."
