A young West Midlands solicitor travelled to Africa recently to
support 'Turn On The Tap', a charity that aims to alleviate water
shortages in many of the poorest countries in the world.
Lawyer Saheda Begum works in the Trusts and Estates team at
Talbots Solicitors from the firm's Wolverhampton Street office in
Dudley. Saheda joined friends from her home town of Sutton
Coldfield to travel to Swaziland to support the work of the
charity, Samaritan's Purse, and its 'Turn The Tap On'
campaign.
Saheda commented "In rural Africa, women and children walk an
average of four miles per day just for water". Saheda visited
Gucuka where villagers had started a fund to build a well. "They
only need £2,000 to complete the project" she comments, "but
it is in danger of being declared derelict having stood unfinished
for a number of years".
Saheda and her neighbours are now trying to raise the extra
money needed to complete the water pump for the village. Various
activities have taken place with more planned.
Martyn Morgan, Senior Partner at Talbots said "As a Practice, we
support a number of charitable events and good causes. We are
delighted at the work Saheda has undertaken and would urge anyone
that can to support her fund raising efforts".
Anyone wishing to support Saheda can email her at
