Southwell Racecourse has announced today that a spectacular
2,200 people have now signed up for its free Racing for Change
event in April - with no signs of registration slowing.
The Nottinghamshire racecourse will open its doors to the public
for free on Wednesday 13th April for a very special evening of
racing and music. 2,200 people have already signed up and
registrations are being taken at an average of 130 a day.
The event, the first in Southwell Racecourse's Summer Music
Evening Programme, is in support of the industry's Racing for
Change campaign which aims to encourage individuals and families to
visit their local racecourse and enjoy the experience and the
environment.
Nathan Corden, Head of Commercial Development at Southwell, has
been stunned by the response: "This is the first time that we have
held an event like this at Southwell so had no idea of the kind of
reaction we would get. In fact, we have been overwhelmed. Local
people have taken the event to their hearts and taking the
opportunity to come along and explore the Racecourse - many for the
first time. The fact that they can make it a free night out with
family and friends makes it an evening just too good to miss!
Guests get free admission to the Grandstand enclosure and can stay
after the racing for a live music session.
"An extra draw is that the 13th is a jumps meeting at Southwell
and we are the only jumps course in Nottinghamshire so it does
present a fabulous opportunity for newcomers to really experience a
unique racing event in the county."
